I have noticed the 8530 model has GPS, mine, the 8520 does not. It seems like the same phone, although I suspect mine is the Australia model (or different to US model). I used Google maps BB app every and, since I moved to this phone it does not work. I did the usual edit permission/allow all but the app still does not work. Someone tell me how to fix please. Someone has told me that the Google Maps app does not necessarily need a GPS phone feature. Please advise (and thanks). M

Cause everytime I add a contact it always... moreIf you want to add the contact from the Blackberry Desktop Software then first follow the step from the same and then accept it from your BB handset and if still you find it difficult then add the contact on the BDS and syncronize that with the handset connected with the system and while syncronizing when you get the option to merge info click YES so that no data or information can be loosed.. If you still face any problem just reply and feel free to share.

I have owned blackberry phones always, but the blackberry 8520 does not impress me much at all.The phone frezes up during calls,and just about everything else. I have tried reloading software, New bettery. Download New desktop software. Nothing works.
Anyone got any answers.

im getting one of these in the next few day & i saw that this phone supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV video playback & i just found out that these formats are in fact divx & xvid.
so that being said, does that mean that this phone supports these video files or am i wrong?
& if so, how's the video playback compared to say the nokia 5800 which i had for a short time & which had excellent divx playback.

Jaiden, 13 Jun 2019It's shocking me how a phone like this doesn't support 3G!Back then data costed so much that it was almost a bad thing to have 3G, you could blow through an entire 50MB data package in 30 seconds by accidentally opening the web app. It had wifi to make up for the slow data connection and at least the 2G actually worked (unlike modern phones)

ikram, 23 Aug 2017Can some body tell me that contacts in black berry curve be saved in some other fone or google? You can save all your contacts on your laptop/desktop if you have Blackberry Suite installed. Just open the app after you connect your BlackBerry devive to PC, wait for it to connect, select 'Backup' from Device tab, select the items you want to synchronize, in this case, Address Book, hit Backup, and you are done. You can copy all theses backed up contacts to any BlackBerry device after connecting that device and choosing Restore. I have more than 3000 contacts and it takes less than a minute to copy the contacts to my device. I have four of them, I don't know why the BB guys shifted to Android os, Imiss the BB os a lot, which is the most secure of all the mobile operating systems.
