Notes from Interviews with Archivists about Archon, Archivists’ Toolkit, Cuadra STAR/Archives, Eloquent, and CollectiveAccess Archivists’ Toolkit Summary To understand how archivists use Archivists’ Toolkit (AT), I conducted phone interviews with five archivists between May and July 2008. To encourage honesty, I promised anonymity to the interviewees. While the most meaningful results will be produced by using the PSAP to evaluate collection at an item-level, the PSAP can also be used to evaluate collections using sampling techniques (this approach is discussed in detail later in this user manual, see Assessing a Repository or Collection Using a Sample) so that only a portion of a larger.

I am pretty surprised to hear they are using 500 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. That's much larger than we had anticipated! Megan and I make a guess that they have an exponentially larger number of records than we do, and hope that we will require less. Our IT department charges us mostly dependent on hard drive space, so there's a big difference between costs on 25 GB versus 500 GB. We are very grateful for the information, though, and will remember the tip about the default settings for logging.
Since we have not a lot of information to go on and have to respond to IT quickly, we decide to ask them to give us something very similar to the server we use for Omeka. We figure if it totally does not work, we will ask for more space/memory.CPU Cores Required: 1RAM Required: 1 GBHD Space Required: 25 GBDisk IO tier (slow, medium, fast): unknown - can this be the same as our Omeka server?Do you need CommVault Backup (none, one copy (local site), two copies (local and remote)): one copyDo you need more than one server (Production, Test, Dev)? Only one server needed
Debian or other ; who is installing/maintaining OS distribution? If I was installing & maintaining the distro, I would install Ubuntu. We anticipate that my replacement will maintain the distro, but if UIS could install the distro in the interest of time, that would be idea.
Software that will be run; web server, database, anything else? MySQL, Java 1.7, and ArchiveSpace
We submit the request and ask for it to move forward. Cost we are quoted as internal customers for this server: $100 for 1 year.
